Obtaining Permits for Building in Stearns County - Albany

Albany Township shall issue permits for:

• Agricultural and residential accessory structures outside of the Shoreland Overlay District

• Home additions that don't include a bedroom and are outside of the Shoreland Overlay District

Albany Township shall issue conditional use permits for:

• Agriculturally orientated businesses

• Limited rural businesses

Albany Township shall act on variance applications relating to:

• Site permits issued by Albany Township

• Setbacks from Township roads

All other permits, including those required in the Shoreland Overlay District, shall be issued by Stearns County. A signature from Albany Township is required on all applications outside of the Shoreland Overlay District for a construction site permit that will be issued by Stearns County.
